Hotel Moresco - Venezia

Hotel Moresco - Venezia

Moresco Hotel - Venice, Italy Featuring Glass Scudo Saraceno with metal ring Fortuny ®
Hints of the orient enriched with surprising blends of different styles and cultures: Hotel Moresco embraces the Mediterranean spirit of Venice, the doorway to the East, re-interpreting it in an original and modern key. The architecture, the furnishing, the decorations have all been chosen to offer you an experience that is quite definitely out of the ordinary. Even the tiniest of details will make your stay outstanding and unforgettable. The garden is a hidden oasis that is typical of Venice. A little gem protected by old walls, providing a delightful setting for summer breakfasts or for short revitalising breaks between one excursion and another. However, if you prefer to spend a whole afternoon there relaxing and taking things easy, it is the perfect place with its open spaces, sun terrace and bar. The study is a corner for relaxation, where you can spend some time over a drink or have a quiet break. In the cosy atmosphere, deep in the comfort of a leather armchair in front of the fireplace, sipping a glass of port in the light of an antique crystal lamp, you can immerse yourself in the fascinating history, curiosities and legends of Venice by reading one of the many books available in the library.
The Criterion

The Criterion

Criterion Restaurant 224 Piccadilly London , UK The Criterion Restaurant has been admired since it first opened its doors in 1873. Few would argue that it is one of the most enchanting and, indeed, memorable restaurants in London. As you sit and lose yourself in the opulence of the neo-Byzantine architecture, it's easy to believe the building is soaked in a fascinating history. The Criterion Restaurant has hosted many famous diners including Winston Churchill and David Lloyd George who regularly met here, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle who had the idea for Dr. Watson and Sherlock Holmes while dining at the Criterion, and H.G.Wells when he was the Chairman of the Royal College of Science's Old Students. Lush, extravagant and utterly compelling, the interior seduces you with the glint and wink of gold and marble. Look around and absorb the gilded ceiling, the grand windows and imposing arches, the fascinating recesses and mirrored walls. And all of this situated in the effervescent heart of Piccadilly Circus. No wonder the restaurant has such a mythical reputation. The Criterion's interior has recently been used in epic Hollywood production of Batman: The Dark Knight in 2008 and Russell Crowe's A Good Year in 2006. Golden Flower

Golden Flower

After a successful two-year search for Mainland China’s best chefs, an exhaustive multi-million renovation, and months of culinary research, Wynn Macau launches Golden Flower, its most ambitious and exclusive restaurant to date. Set in an opulent and exclusive dining room, Golden Flower celebrates the life of the historic Cantonese Qing dynasty official Tan Zongjun with the authentic flavors of China’s interior — Tan, Lu (Shandong), and Sichuan. Designed by Wynn Macau’s Executive Vice President of Wynn Design and Development Roger Thomas, Golden Flower’s interior reflects the exquisite, intimate nature of Tan cuisine, which was originally enjoyed in Tan’s courtyard home in Beijing. Thomas has created a venue that reflects China’s historic influence on the world, including a tea lounge and reception room that is inspired by a room from the home of British tycoon Frederick Leyland known as the “Peacock Room,” on permanent display at Washington D.C.’s Freer Gallery of Art. Other extravagant touches include a red-and-white cloisonné mosaic floor from Ravenna, Italy and Fortuny® light fixtures that borrow the aesthetic of Chinese silk lanterns. House of Rock

House of Rock

The recipe rarely changes: Buy a property, invite high-profile designers to tackle specific spaces, create a publicity phenom and sprinkle the entire endeavor with a healthy dose of feel-good charity appeal. Voilà, another showcase house is born when the House of Rock launches in Santa Monica on Saturday night. There may be no better attention-getting way to flip a property like the 1926 that designer Elaine Culotti purchased two years ago. The 10,000-square-foot home, on almost 2 acres of golf-course-adjacent real estate, was designed by Elmer Grey (architect of the Beverly Hills Hotel, among other places) and had been inhabited by actress-singer Kathryn Grayson from 1945 until her death in 2010. Culotti, owner of the design firm Porta Bella, was already experienced in buying and renovating Southern California homes. This was her 12th. Culotti christened it the House of Rock and invited designers such as Ralph Pucci, David Bromstad and Sami Hayek to explore the notion of “marrying not just rock but all kinds of music to lifestyle and classical architecture.” Read more about this article text by By Alexandria Abramian Mott Text and photos Courtesy of Los Angeles Times Featured product: G084SAC-1 Fortuny ® Scudo Saraceno small with Decorative Metal Ring , made in Venice Italy

Y2C2 Shanghai

Y2C2 Shanghai

After having cooperated together in landmark F&B projects, VOL and Kokaistudios re-joined to work on a challenging new project of conceiving an innovative Cantonese Fine Dining restaurant, a new product where the contemporary and trendy environment that is the signature of the VOL group meets the pure essence of the traditional Cantonese cuisine; a contemporary Chinese restaurants conceived for VOL’s sophisticated international clientele. Located in the Wharf 1846 development in Shanghai with majestic views onto the Huangpu River and Pudong, the interior design has been conceived playing with the contrast between tradition and innovation like in a harmonious dance between yin and yang. The name of the Restaurant is a shorthand for the restaurant’s concept: a balance of yin and yang and as well as the classic and the contemporary. That’s two Ys and two Cs; hence Y2C2. Elegant and edgy at the same time, brings a new energy and freshness to Shanghai’s dining scene. Kokaistudios Kokaistudios is an award winning multi-disciplinary design firm founded in 2000 in Venice by Italian architects Filippo Gabbiani & Andrea Destefanis which for the past 10 years has been headquartered in Shanghai. Palazzo Stern

Palazzo Stern

This historic hotel in Venice is a Moorish Palazzo which has been built during the 15th Century. Built by Malpaga Family (they will give their name to the Rio next to the building), it was originally a two floors building. During the first years on the 20th Century the building has been bought by the Stern Family, art collectors and traders. They rebuildt the whole palace (bigger, 4 floor in total) using old parts and materials of the previous one. Then the new building has been enriched with pieces of art, sculptures, mosaics and architectural elements from other buildings. The result is remarkable, a collage of memories from many different eras. Now, after 2 years of meticulous restoration, Palazzo Stern is magnificent.

The four bedroom, six bathroom apartment was renovated to retain the structure’s original character with finishes of the highest quality. The building's wild makeover kicked off in 2001, and it was designed by Studio Rivelli architect Mario Rivelli. On his website—which offers even more pictures— Rivelli explains that 144 Duane was formerly a shoe store and warehouse, and he lifted the roof to create the sixth-floor space. The client "requested a clean contemporary aesthetic," all the better for displaying ceramic bowls, Renaissance art and fossilized starfish. Bar Rouge Shanghai

Kokaistudios has completed the re-design of Bar Rouge, Shanghai’s legendary nightlight landmark. Occupying the top floor of the Bund 18 building; the UNESCO awarded heritage building which itself was Kokaistudios first project in Asia; Bar Rouge over its first 10 years of operation established an international reputation as China’s most famous club playing host to some of the world’s highest profile celebrities, artists and musicians. Drawing inspiration from a mix of Chinese and European, modern and traditional influences, the new interior creates an unique environment at the leading edge of global hospitality, taking the cul-ture of modern clubbing and fusing it with Asian hospitality and service. By delivering on our promise to the Client we have firmly re-established Bar Rouge as the top club in Shanghai and have delivered a space for the next generation of local and international patrons to enjoy the truly unique Bar Rouge experience. Having undergone several small-scale renovations during the past decade the client approached Kokaistudios to re-visit the project and undertake a complete 4 month renovation with the goal of re-vitalizing the Bar Rouge brand . The Client’s dream was to return Bar Rouge to the glamour and spirit of the original venue - a mystic, imaginary Shanghai combined with the highest international levels of vibrancy, music, and service - but adapted to the needs of the environment of today. An identity built around an imaginary Shanghai Lady 10 years later – more refined; more sophisticated; and as always charming and sexy. Kokaistudios’ design reimagines Bar Rouge as a fashion show, where guests criss-cross between the experience of front- and backstage of the red carpet. All the decorative elements at Bar Rouge draw strong inspiration from the spirit of the catwalk, such as the flashbulb LED wall at the entrance, the series of bespoke sparkling director chairs, and the iconic Fortuny lamps hung as lighting umbrellas above the central red bar. The venue provides a range of open, semi-private and private spaces to cater for the public, discrete groups and larger private parties. From the central, vibrant bar to the surrounding lounge areas inspired by traditional Chinese boxes and beds, and open terrace overlooking the breath taking view of the Bund and the Pudong skyline, the venue encourages voyeuristic glimpses and chance encounters. It is the place to see and be seen, or simply a to sit back and “enjoy the runway show” against a backdrop of provocative imagery.
